Last night I had meeting number 2 with Gary. Most of our time was spent becoming familiar with the editing process. When I arrived we went into the edit bay where I learned a few of the different processes when it comes recording and editing. The first interview we had to edit was a previously recorded interview that was already on the hard drive. This was a pretty straight forward exercise. We listened through the interview, taking out the majority of the stutters, but keeping enough imperfections in to keep it natural sounding. We also had to adjust sound levels in the interview, since some areas were louder than others.

The second interview was previously recorded from another on air talent. We had to listen to her intro and then edit the interview down for time and content. Also the interview was on a CD, so Gary showed me how to run the CD through the system to be recoreded through the board so we could further edit it. 

Finally, we edited an interview that he did where we had to listen through, edit, and then mark parts where he was going to play music and mix when he went live on the air.

In additon to editing we talked though ideas I have for my own show. My formal training and education is in religion, which is an area that facinates me to no end. We went over different ideas and differnt show lengths. While discussing shows we also discussed the Fund Drive that KPFK does every other month. We talked about differnt pitch ideas for the fund drive, including being able to go through the pacifica archive and put together a pitch sho wth alan watts clips, which would be amazing!
