I went through breathing exercises with Shawn on Monday and also listened to the second and third track on the tutor cd. He also talk to me about editing techniques for my commercials and also answered my questions on how to use my usb mixer. At home I practiced reading through my scripts and recorded my first 10 assignment commercials. Then I familiarized myself with Adobe Audition and enhanced the quality and proofread as best I could. Today I went in and Shawn listened to my commercials I recorded and critiqued them telling me what I need to work on and what I did well. Out of the 10 commercials, he enjoyed listening to me doing Cabaret Concert Hall, Palmolive Soap and United Airlines. I thought I did quite well for my first recordings inspite of having a cold. He talked to me about a session that would take place where various people would record commercials for his station giving me and opportunity to record some as well. To wrap up the remainder of the lesson, I met John who helped supply some of the equiptment in Shawn's studio and he told me that he and his father are broadcasting veterans and would help answer any questions that have about the business. Now I am working to finish the rest of my assignment commercials that have timeframes of 30-60 seconds.
