I may have to turn in my honorary punk badge because I have to admit that I really enjoy the new Blink 182 single "She's Out of Her Mind," so forgive any grammatical mishaps for that may be because singing and typing is not my forte. I'm digressing from nothing at this point but Matt Skiba must have put the "woahs" in the song as an homage to early 90s Chicago punk (ie Naked Raygun, Pegboy, Bhopal Stiffs, etc) because ever since his new world-wide fame, he's loved dropping names (check out the Bauhaus reference in the new single...pretty funny). I had a chance to sit down with the station Program Director, Ross, yesterday. I was intitally very grateful that he even invited me to talk because of his position here at the station. He expressed that he was beyond impressed with a demo I presented to him for critique. That was enough news to make me a happy man for the next week, but things got better. He gave me his email and expressed an interest in meeting every week to discuss my work. He wants me to consistently be making demos with X107.5 music and imaging. Dare I say that he may be grooming me for something. His critiques of my original demo were short but meaningful. I need to concentrate on simple word changes. "Only on 107.5" is at the opposite end of the spectrum than "on 107.5" and the two have different definitions. I also need to concentrate on my timings. We live in a quick world that we can only express ourselves in 170 characters or less so I need to take that mentality when I am on the air.
