Willy Trabanco Radio Connection

Week One is Done Posted on 2017-04-29 by Willy Trabanco

This morning I woke up looking forward to my first day at the studio! As a any normal day, I get woken up by Karma, my dog, get out of bed, put food in her bowl, brush my teeth, and get dressed for my day. Normally this routine is done dragging ass to a job I really don't love, but today was different. Today I had a pep in my step! I got to work, put in my laptop, grabbed my coffee, had regular conversation, and honestly did not pay attention for 3 minutes on any work. I just waited for 12 o' clock, so I can leave. From 9:00am to 11:00am, I legit just listened to the Dan Le Batard Show and checked some emails for 2 hours and coming up with some ideas of what to do on my own radio show when I become a radio star! 11:50 came along and I said "I am not doing shit!" alone in my office, like a crazy person. I packed up my stuff and rode on my way to the studio!

Look, I know this story has been a lot more detailed than what you would have liked, but I did it on purpose so maybe you would notice one thing. I HAVEN'T EATEN A GODDAMN THING! It hit me halfway to the studio, my stomach started doing its hungry thing. I was 10 minutes from the studio and had 20 minutes to spare. Stopped at 3 different fast food restaurants and i swear every line was 6 miles long. I am not exaggerating. Six. Miles. Long. It was time to get to the studio, foodless. I get to the studio, still got a pep in my step, not as much because my hunger was striking, but it was still here on the first day  of the rest of my life!

I met up with Justin and he took me through the studio and until we go to the studio where we were going to have our lessons. We went into an actual studio to do our lessons! It was not very aesthetically nice. But let me tell you, I was amazed at everything about it. I saw the potential. We started talking about the boring things, like the first weeks lesson, which was all about the history of radio, I think I had a great grandfather who died from that much boredom. We had to go over that lesson though, I did not blame him for the boredom, I blamed my ever growing hunger for making it worse. He showed me the different programs they use for mixing and making ads and sound effects, which was so cool. You know what would've made it cooler? If I had a nice satisfied tummy! We were 2 hours into it and I have officially lost interest in everything. I was not hearing words being said,  I was not comprehending anything Justin was saying, just repeating the last 2 words he said to me back to him to pretend to pay attention. Finally I answered the last question and it was over, I can smell the food. I did not expect to be so excited to leave the first day of my dream job as much as I did! I also believe  I broke a record getting to Chick-Fil-A in a minute and and 45 seconds.

That completed my first day at the iHeart Radio Studios. This is going to be an amazing adventure!
