Yesterday I got to record my first spot. I was shown to the production studio, and given my script and told to go nuts. If for anyone that hasn't heard their voice after it's been recorded, let me tell you, it is very wierd. The voice you hear when you talk sounds very different that the one everyone else hears. The reason for this is you dont only hear you'r voice, you also hear bones vibrating. This causes you'r voice to sound lower than it really is. This spot is the first time i ever recorded anything. Iam very critical of myself so I scrapped probably 10-15 takes before i recorded one that met my standards. Even then the one they picked I feel i could have done better. I guess as long as they like it thats all that matters.
I still can't believe how well everything is falling into place. Everyone at WCUB has been so amazing and helpfull. Jenny, my mentor, has been getting me involved in any way she can. Sherry, the news director, has been teaching me a few things as well. The midday DJ, Creig, has been letting me sit in on his show, and has shown me many things. I can not express my grattitude enough towards everyone at WCUB, as well as the Radio Connection. The Radio Connection has made the whole enrollment prosses simple, and stress free. Thank you very much.
