On Sunday, January 11 I brought my boyfriend, Nick, to WMMR studio with me to conduct an interview. The insructions for this assignment were rather vague, and seeing as I didn't have access to anyone important, I decided to have Nick come with me and pretend to be an ex circus performer who was riding a unicycle across the country for charity. Together we created the Unicycling for Unity foundation and talked about how it came to be. The back story Nick came up with consisted of himself and three other former circus performers deciding to leave the circus and find ways to give back to the community. The particular trip I was interviewing him about went from Portland, OR to Philadelphia, PA in an effort to raise money and gather food donations via sponsors. I then asked him about how people could get invovled and we talked about events at food kitchens for the send off and arrival and also referred to social media accounts that people could follow and donate through. I also asked him about his personal experiences and preparations for these journeys as well as his goal in terms of money being raised for the cause. I ended the interview by promoting the event and reminding everyone where and how they can contirbute. This was the most fun I've had on an assignment yet, I really like the idea of interviewing people and learning more about them. It was also a good exercise in creativity and collaborating. The ideas grew and changed as we talked about them and I really like the final product. Next week is another assignment I'm really looking forward to: a mock disc jockey show!
