Many Successful Shoots Finished! Posted on 2015-12-30 by Nicholas Laughlin

It's been a while!

Unfortunately no photos. I've witnessed SEVERAL auditioning processes for commercials, and TV series (of which I can't discuss). Shaunn also interviewed a college basketball coach Wade O' Connor. We're meant to shoot a promo for him in the next week or so. The last shoot we did was for Kids Read Now, at an elementary school who uses the program. I witnessed the way that teachers behave during an interview process, and I was actually surprised. I thought that a teacher would be more than willing to get in front of a camera if it was for the greater good, but no. The teachers we interviewed were anxious to get it over with, and get back to their work. I now know that their jobs are constantly on the line, and one little crack in the fault line could cause their entire world to fall apart. But the good news is that I got to observe how Shaunn would handle the interviews, and it eased the teachers stress just a tiny bit. And he got a good amount of footage to use in a promotional video!

Shaunn is having me write a paper on my favorite director, David Fincher, and I'mabsolutely thrilled. I know a lot about Fincher, but not in an organized fashion. Luckily, I have psychic parents who just so happen to buy me "David Fincher Interviews", an editorial of all his biggest interviews in one book. I now have a fragment of what I'll be using in my report, that also has a majority of the information I need. I'll be posting my report on here when it's finished.

I'm now at the mid-point of Act 2 in my script! It is just puke at this point. Revision is going to be hell, but I'm ready for it. Luckily, Shaunn is also my screenwriting mentor, and he's given me hell (the one thing I've noticed about Shaunn is that he is extremely similar to David Fincher in terms of directing). Pointing out on the nose dialogue, and using the word "well", and millions of other tiny things. He's very picky about dialogue, and that especially helps me.

Ultimately, I don't want to write what I direct ( be it that I become a director ). Writing is an absolute necessity, no doubt. And I love to write. But it can get extremely lonesome, and I find that I'm a much more social person. I have so many script ideas that they fill a file cabinet in my office desk.

From now on, I'll be on here WEEKLY!
