Part 1: Production/demo/editing
Noted:
Top of hour production edits:
Thought: I really am interested in the production side and learning the boards. There is something about controlling the creative aspect of the finished product that I love. It takes a lot of attention to detail and practice. The more I work with audition and shadow Christopher Mercado (production), the more I want to learn and perfect it. I think I want to get my foot in the door through board operations as an entry level. I am also very curious about using the system Orbit and taking the training courses. There is so much more than meets the eye when it comes to working in the radio business. I’ve learned that first hand through producing and working on my own show, however this experience further broadens my perspective. There are pro’s and con’s to every job and career. Therefore, I embrace it and acknowledge it as learning my craft.
- Find song then check levels (always yellow never red)
- When you are giving a layout of what songs to play for a commercial copy, it’s important to get the best of the song (hook etc) into those seconds.
- EQ: High past filter-
- Ducking for compression, certain music areas when vocals are over it you can duck the music by highlighting and lowering the db so the vocals are completely heard (like baseball if they swing you duck0
- Grouping: when mixing group like instruments together so that when editing whether in promo or music it gives you control and bypasses so many steps. If I group 3 different drums and need to push up the db all of that group will push up in volume according to their relation to each other.
- Reverb, diffusion
- Wide orbit popular program used for production in stations
Part 2:
