Recently, I have finally been able to get started with the Radio Connection program and experience the studio life via my mentor, Eytan Shander. I have been to the 97.5 studio twice; once for a weekday walk-through, and once for a weekend walk-through. So far, I have mostly been getting acclimated with the production room and getting a run-down on what the producer's job is. It all seems a little overwhelming at first, with all the equipment, different buttons with different functions, and the need to act quickly at certain times. However, that overwhelming feeling goes away once you get used to the job. To me, the producer's job is one that epitomizes multitasking, which is something that I'm actually pretty good at. A lot of times, the producer will be handling phone calls while simultaneously working with the sound board, especially during commercial breaks. When they're not doing that, they're on social media and surfing the internet, trying to gather facts and stories that may be worthwhile for the host(s) to mention during their show.
My first couple experiences at the studio have been good ones, and I am looking forward to many more in the future!
